Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2015: Three persons including a women and her daughter were killed and three others suffered critical injuries when an over-speeding tipper lorry rammed into an electric pole before colliding against a car and a two-wheeler at Nanthoor Junction, on Friday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Veena (40), a teacher, her son Nischith (13), and a two wheeler rider Preetham (21). The injured are Krishna (46), Husband of Veena and his daughter Nikitha(10) and pillion rider on two wheeler Swetha (18). Krishna is also a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Panambur. While Veena died on the spot, Nischith and bike rider Preetham died en route to the hospital.
The alto car and bike were waiting at Nanthoor signal when the overspeeding truck coming from Panambur (plying towards Kasargod) rammed against an electric pole and rammed into the car and bike.
The impact was such that the car was reduced to a mangled heap. Krishna, who was driving car and his son Nischith miraculously survived. Swetha, relative of Preetham suffered critical injuries.
Soon after the accident, the tipper driver fled the spot. A case has been registered. It may be recalled that recently, a truck and bus collided at the same junction killing two on the spot after the bus turned turtle. The unscientific circle in the Nanthoor Junction is said to be the reason for frequent mishaps.
