Mangaluru, Mar 9, 2015: There is a greater need to come out of the confines of Dharma and  lead a life of peace, harmony and brotherhood, said Dr  B Shivaram Shetty, Professor in Mangalore University.


Speaking at a public debate on the topic ‘Mother Teresa –Manaviyatheya Prathiroopa’ at the Milagres Senate Hall on March 8, Sunday to mark International Women’s day, he strongly deplored the act of a few who were creating tension in the society in the name of Hindutva.

Shetty also  spoke about the service rendered by Mother Teresa to humanity.

Fr Oniel D’Souza, Director of St Antony’s Orphanage, Jeppu in his address, deplored the attempts made by  a few to tarnish the image and reputation of Mother Teresa who worked for the welfare of  mankind.

Fr Valerian D’Souza, Parish Priest of Milagres church, recalled the visit of Mother Teresa to Mangaluru twice and said the Mother saw God in the poorest of poor.

Roy Castelino, President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy earlier inaugurated the programme organised by Progressive Thinkers’ Forum of Mangaluru.


IA Prasanna President of the Forum, Corrine Rasquinha, Founder of White Doves, Vasudev Uchil and others were  present.
