Mangaluru: July 10, 2015: A huge Mango tree broke under windy and rainy condition on Thursday evening and fell on the road near Bendur Cross disrupting the traffic.

The incident took place at around 7.55 pm. The traffic was disrupted for 25 minutes as the Fire brigade reached the spot bit late.

Speaking to the media personals’ MCC engineer Nityanand said “Due to the heavy rain, 8 trees have fallen in various parts of the city". The fire department are doing tremendeous job to clear the traffic.


The residents in the area said "The tree fell at the right time, if it would have fallen in the afternoon the situation would have been different as students use the same road to go the college and school and also the parents who come to pick their children park their vehicles here.

They further said that there is another huge tree, it might fall anytime and department must take action in time to prevent it from danger.

As it was raining very hard and dark, the horticulture department employees and the police personals and the Fire department helped to clear the tree from the road.

The MCC has to cut down the old trees in the city before the rainy season to avoid such accidents. Thank god no one is harmed .
