Mangaluru : Six PSU banks to distribute Aadhaar cards

Mangaluru, July 10, 2015:  Briefing media at DC office July 9, DK  Deputy Commissioner Adoor B Ibrahim said that district administration will avail help of six banks for distribution of Aadhaar cards in the district. Bank of India, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Dena Bank and State Bank of India have joined hands for the purpose in city.  The banks themselves select locations and work with the help of agencies. Bank of India has already started operating in 12 centres with SREI agency. Other banks would start the service soon.  

There are 38 Aadhaar centres in the district and around four lakh people are yet to get Aadhaar cards in the district and 80 per cent progress has been achieved.   Aadhaar cards are being provided through 15 Nada Kacheris and Aadhaar kits are being distributed in BEO offices for schoolchildren. "We have written to the State government not to insist Aadhaar card for scholarships. It would take at least six months to reach the target in the district," he added.

DC court :   The Deputy Commissioner said the DC Court has solved around 75 per cent of cases which were before the court, including a few 10-year old cases. As per the statistics from January 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, the DC has solved 612 cases out of 842. There are around 230 cases pending, which were received after April, 2015.

The DC conducts the court meeting thrice in a week in the DC office, usually on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Disputes related to revenue appeal, land disputes, land grant, municipality, house site, SC/ST issues, tax appeal, magisterial cases, land acquisition- compensation, arbitration case and few other issues can be solved in the court.   Around 3,224 cases are pending before Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner court and 819 before Puttur AC court.
