In view of the government directive to celebrate the festival in a simple manner   due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Namaz was offered at various mosques by maintaining social distancing.

However, as mass Namaz has been banned in Idgahs, no namaz or Eid Khutba were held in  Idgahs in Mangaluru or elsewhere for the very first time.

In most mosques   as many as 50 Muslim brethren of the area converged and offered Namaz by duly adhering to Covid guidelines. Those above 60 and children below 10 were not allowed to enter mosques.

Everyone was subject to thermal scanning  and provided sanitizers before entering the mosques. No one was allowed to hug or  shake hands to convey Eid greetings.

Bakrid is also known as the festival of sacrifice for the Islam faithful.
