Mangaluru, April 14, 2015 : The Forum for Justice for Baby Nirbhaya has warned of a severe protest if the authorities failed to act against the Mangalore One School at Tokkottu under the POSCO Act in connection with the March 13 incident wherein an LKG girl of the school was allegedly sexually assaulted by a school van driver.
Speaking to reporters here on April 14, Tuesday, Renny D’Souza, social activist said no case has been registered against the school so far despite the victim’s mother lodging a complaint seeking action against the school under POSCO Act.
He further said “As the school management Committee chief and correspondent are former police officers there is a strong doubt if any effort would be done to hush up the case.” “Even the committee formed by the DC to look into the case has submitted a report in haste,” he alleged.
Renny said the Forum wants the authorities to act impartially in the case without succumbing to pressure from any corner and also to ensure the strictest and maximum punishment to the guilty.
Meanwhile, social activist Vidya Dinker who was also present stressed the need for an impartial enquiry into the case. “ She said the investigation officer into this case Kalavathi, inspector in Pandeshwar station was also the investigation officer in sexual harassment case involving ACP Jagannath who is the correspondent of the school,” Vidya Dinker said and added there is a need for a change in investigation officer or else every measure has to be taken for an impartial investigation. Ummar UH was also present at the press meet.
