Mangaluru, May 09, 2015: A Save Western Ghat Convention is being held at Urumbi in Puttur taluk on May 9, Saturday  under the joint aegis of the Kumaradhara Parisara Samrakshana Samithi, Vriksha Laksha Andolana Karnataka and Shakti and Chaugu Bhoom Research Wing of Bengaluru.

The convention to be participated by several experts will discuss the mini hydel projects proposed in Kumaradhara area, the movements to prevent their setting up and the current scenario.

A study report on Yettinahole undertaken by the Energy-Wetland Research Group of Indian Institute of Science will be released on the occasion. The  ill-effects of the  relaxation in forest and environment  related acts  as per the recommendations of the Shri Subrahmanyan Commitee will also be discussed by experts.

Dr Vaman Acharya, President of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Ananth Hegde Ashisara, past president of Western Ghats Task Force, Dr TV Ramachandra, noted scientist. Prof. BM Kumaraswamy, B Ramakrishna and other environmentalists will also speak at the convention. Dr Keshava Korse, Dr Ramachandra Bhat, botanists, Gajendra Gorasu Kudige of Save Western Ghat Movement, Balachandra Saimane, wildlife expert,  BH Raghavendra and,  Kishore Kumar, environmentalists from Sagar will also take part.
