Mangaluru, June 15, 2019: Retired nurses as well as achievers in the nursing field were felicitated at a function organised at the RAPCC Auditorium of Wenlock Hospital here on June 15, Saturday to mark International Day of Nurses. The function was held under the aegis of the district branch of Karnataka State Nurses Association.

Sharada, Chanchalakshi and Gracy Fernandes who served as nurses for over 30 years without any promotion were felicitated on the occasion. Nurses who have proved their mettle in the field of sports, music and other activities were also honoured. Those felicitated are Harini P, Bhavani, Sumangala, Sunanda, Philomena, Shashikala and Subhashini.

The programme  was earlier inaugurated by Additional D C R Venkatachalapathi. He said nursing profession was a noble profession were patience plays a very important  role in dealing with patients.

Dr Rajeshwari Devi, Medical Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital, Dr Juliana Saldanha, RMO of Wenlock, Dr Savitha, Superintendent of Lady Goschen Hospital,  Harini P, Honorary President of DK District Government Nurses Association, Prakash Nayak, President of DK District Government Employees Association and others were present.
