Mangaluru : Private buses likely to resume services from June 1

Mangaluru, May 25, 2020:    Private city and service bus services in Dakshina Kannada district are very much likely to resume services from June 1 onwards, after a gap of almost two months due to the Covid-19 lockdown. A  meeting of bus operators scheduled to be held on Wednesday is expected to take a final  call on the issue.

According to Dilraj Alva, President of City Bus Operators’ Association, as much as 50% of city buses are likely to resume services from June 1. As of now, the operators are awaiting guidelines for running buses, from the district administration.

The KSRTC is already operating buses to Mudipu under the JNNURM scheme and  a decision on  operating other JNNURM buses is likely to be taken soon.

Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has said that the guidelines for resuming bus services would be  issued very soon and that a meeting of RTO and bus operators is also likely to be held shortly.
