Mangaluru: July 15, 2015: The police on Wednesday arrested three persons in connection to thefts of Vehicles and using them for the sand smuggling.

The accused has been identified as Mohiddin Shariff (26), Davood Jaleel alias Jamcy (21) and Mohiddin Irshad(21)

Speaking to the media personals, Superintendent of Police Dr Sharanappa said that the arrested youths are resident of Kumble in Kasargod district.

The police have seized five pick-up vans stolen from Bantwal and Vittal and two Maruti omni from Mangaluru.

According to the sources the trio stole vehicles at night and used them to transport sand specifically in Kumble area.

The police on Wednesday stopped a pick-up van which was moving suspiciously at Saradka area. The police when investigated the trio, found out that the vehicles were stolen.

The SP said, that the other people involved in this racket will soon be arrested, however the vehicles which was stolen will be handed over to the owners after verifying documents.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of SP Dr Sharanappa, ASP  Vincent Shantha Kumar, ASP Rahul Kumar, Bantwal Circle inspector K U Belliyappa, Vittal PSI Prakash Devadiga Chidananda Rai, Shina Gowda, Praveen Rai Janardhan Harishchandra, Manjula, Sanjeeva Purusha, Girish, Vasu Naik, Sundar Raj.

The officers were rewarded with appreciation certificates and cash for their excellent work.
