Mangaluru, Dec 27, 2019: Prime Minister Modi’s sweeping popularity has hit the age old folk art of Yakshagana too. A Yakshagana show based on a thematic presentation of Modi’s life covering his childhood, upbringing, political background will be staged shortly in Mangalore. Titled ‘Narendra Vijaya’, the show will be staged at TV Raman Pai Convention Centre On January 5, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.
The screenplay for the episode is written by Jyothi Shastri of Theertha Halli. The main actors are Jyothi Shastri, Varad Aithal, Mayoori Upadhyaya, Nirmala Golikoppa, Savitha Bhat, Sharvani Bhat, Nalini Rao, Disha Jois, Mallika Raghavendra Bhat and others. Backend artistes are Nagesh Kulal nagarkodige, N. J. Hegde (Maddale), Krishnamurthy (Chende), M. R. Nayak Siddapura (Costumes and Make Up).
Normally Yakshagana is performed on mythological and historical themes. This is a unique instance when an entire Yakshagana performance is being dedicated to enacting the biography of a living personality.
