Mangaluru, Jan 06, 2017 : Mobile units to check polluting vehicles was launched by District in charge Minister Ramnath Rai on January 06, Friday at Townhall . A rally was carried out by the NSS students of various schools from the city from light house culiminated at Townhall .
Plumes of smoke are emitted through vehicles, faced with such situations, besides lack of monitoring of air pollution from vehicles. Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), Regional Transport Department and Mangaluru Refinery and Petrochemical Limited (MRPL) has jointly launched mobile monitoring to crack down on smoke-spewing vehicles.
Having sophisticated machines will help us do on-the-spot vehicle checks as well as check the validity of the emission centers. Regular checking and fines, awareness will be spread about maintenance of vehicles to keep pollutions low. Mobile monitoring vehicles are deployed for vehicular emission checks.
MCC commissioner M Nazeer, MLA B A Moideen Bava, Environment Officer Rajshekar Puranik and many others were present.

This initiative will reduce the amount of pollution in the city. There are many vehicles in the city which are old and emit a lot of smoke. |
