Mangaluru: Man gets lifer for killing mother and sister

Mangaluru Apr 21, 2016: A 44 year old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by Additional District and Session court in Mangaluru for killing his mother and sister in 2009.
Vasu Poojary who was working in a hotel, eliminated his mother Rithi Poojary (61) and sister Vimala (25) on December 11, 2009 for unknown reason. He was charged under section 302 of the Indian Penal code.
Later Poojary claimed that he was mentally unstable and committed the crime unknowingly.
As per the medical reports he was mentally unstable and was charged with murder as he was not under medication during the time of the incident.
The court has also slapped a penalty of Rs. 5000 on him and he will have to undergo additional jail for six months if he fails to pay it. The Court has directed the authorities to take him to NIMHANS for further treatment once in every six months.
