Mangaluru : Mahila Morcha demands Mayor’s resignation over assault case

Mangaluru, Oct 28, 2017:  The BJP Mahila Morcha has demanded the resignation of city Mayor Kavitha Sanil  over the allegation that the latter had assaulted the wife and children of the watchman  of the apartment where she is residing. The Mahila Morcha has also stated that it would demand resignation of all Congress  Corporators if the Mayor fails to yield to the demand.

 

Speaking to reporters here, Yuva Morcha President Pooja Pai strongly condemned the alleged atrocities by the Mayor and clarified that they had met the watchman’s wife   with the sole intention  of securing her justice and added that there was no politics  behind this.

Corporator Roopa D Bangera alleged that the Mayor had barged into the residence of  the watchman and had assaulted the watchman’s wife. Let the Mayor release the CCTV footage if she has the courage, she challenged.

"If the Mayor fails to apologise and quit,  then Congress leaders will have to  do this task, lest we will stage a dharna demanding resignation of all   Congress corporators," she said.

"There has been a complaint in Urwa police station in the past  alleging that she had threatened the earlier  watchman too. We have  evidences and will make the same public in the future," Bangera added.

The  incident should be probed by a senior police officer and  even the CWC must take up the case as  even the watchman’s children were subject to atrocity, she said.

Several Mahila Morcha office bearers including Sandhya Venkatesh, Sumitra Kariya, Meera Karkera, Babitha Ravindra and others  were present.
