Mangaluru, June 28, 2015: Marking his one year in office, MLC Ivan. D’Souza released a 20-page booklet titled ‘Intricate path: successful Imprints’, at his office June 27. MLC Ivan D’Souza, who took oath as a member of the State Legislative Council on June 27 last year, has registered cent per cent attendance. The MLC also fully used the four questions per day norm during the session on all the 61 days. Mangaluru Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred released the booklet describing the milestones and achievements of the MLC.
MLC D’Souza, later told the media that he had been making the best use of opportunities that came in his way to serve people irrespective of caste and community. During the legislature sessions, the MLC claimed, he made use of all platforms including “calling attention motion” to highlight issues of utmost importance. The MLC said some issues that he raised, not only helped people but also got him satisfaction and created a landmark.
He recalled, the Department of Fisheries was unrelenting to provide compensation to the family of a fisherman who went missing from the seashores near Mangaluru old harbour, he raised it on the floor of the house and also pressured the Chief Minister, who ordered payment of compensation the family. He also was instrumental for release of Rs. 1.28 crore during the one year towards medical treatment of people from economically weaker sections of society, cutting across caste and religion. Not less than 140 people benefited from his interventions. Regarding the legislator’s development fund, the MLC said he successfully utilised Rs. 99.9 per cent out of the total Rs. 1.99 crore.
