Mangaluru, Mar 12, 2020: Dakshina Kannada Khazi Twaka Ahmed Musliyar along with Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath inaugurated Jayalakshmi, showroom, South India’s favourite family fashion store at Bejai, on Thursday, March 12.

Mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar, deputy mayor Vedavathi, corporator Poornima, Shakeela Kava, MCC opposition leader Abdul Rauf, former MLA J R Lobo, corporator Sudhir Shetty, Premananda Shetty, BJP district president Sudarshan Moodabidiri, Zilla Panchayath president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, owners of Jayalakshmi, N Narayana Kamath, N Govind Kamath, N Satheesh Kamath and others were present.

Witnessing a real need for premium apparels and bridal wear, Jayalakshmi has launched its fifth showroom in the country at Bejai. The new mega showroom, which has a total area of around 1 lac, is the biggest of its kind in Karnataka. Over four floors of humongous shopping area offer the finest of apparels and bridal wear.

The multistoried building has exclusive floors for churidar materials, dress materials, ladies ethnic wear (Ground floor), kids’ wear, western wear (First floor), gents’ wear, blouse materials, lingerie (Second floor) lehengas and sarees (Third floor). The two floors in the basement reserved for car parking have the capacity to park around 250 vehicles.

Jayalakshmi was founded in 1947 at Cochin’s Cloth Bazar road by late R Narasimha Kamath. The business made a modest beginning with a small shop measuring 200 sq ft.

In 1997, three sons of late R Narasimha Kamath - N Narayana Kamath, N Govind Kamath and N Satheesh Kamath, opened a 60,000 sq ft state-of-the-art showroom at MG Road Cochin, with a vision to provide the best in quality and the latest in fashion apparels for the customers, and thus began the growth story of the brand Jayalakshmi.
