Mangaluru, Feb 13, 2015: Former governor of Rotary Club Dr Devadas Rai released the invitation and posters of the Hindu Samajotsava at a function held at the Samajotsava office here on February 13, Friday. The Samajotsava is slated to be held at Nehru Maidan in the city on March 1.
In his address,Rai said the Samajotsava aims at fostering unity and harmony among Hindus.
Giving details about the Samajotsava programmes, Jagadish Shenava said a vehicle rally will be taken out in the city on February 20 to mark the golden jubilee of VHP. He said over 2000 vehicles will be part of the jatha which will commence from the Samajotsava office and conclude at Bunts Hostel after passing through various routes of the city. Prior to this jatha, taluk level jathas will be held on February 15 while a vehicle jatha will be organised in Moodbidri on February 20.
He said the Samajotsava to be held on March 1 will be presided over by Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala while Sadhwi Balika Saraswathi will be the key-note speaker.
VHP leader Prof. MB Puranik who also spoke said that the city has witnessed five Samajotsavas since 1981, the year when the first such event was organised.He said not only Hindus but members of all communities are welcome to take part in the Samajotsava.
Honorary President of Hindu Samajotsava Committee Ganesh Rao also spoke.
Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, President of the Celebrations Committee, Dinesh Pandeshwar and many others were present.
