Mangaluru, Dec 1, 2016: : The Mangaluru-Hassan- Mysuru- Soluru liquified petroleum gas pipeline project is complete from Mangaluru to Yadiyooru while presently works between Yadiyooru and Soluru is underway.
The total pipeline length is 397 km of which 355.22 km works are complete and pumping is done upto Yadiyooru. If water was pumped into the pipeline on an experimental basis from October first week, LPG is being pumped since October 23.
If until now LPG bottling works was done in HPCL unit in Mangaluru henceforth it will be done in Yadiyooru too. Once the pipeline works are complete upto Soluru, bottling works will also be done there.
The pipeline has been laid 12 meter below ground level and will always be monitored through GPS. In places where the pipeline has to pass through rivers, concrete coated pipes have been used.
Once the pipeline works are complete it would put a break to the movement of the oil tankers on the roads which have been a major cause of accidents.

The heavy vehicles used for gas transportation is very risky and we will be on the safer side in future once it is completed. | |
