Mangaluru: Clash over land dispute at Kadri : 2 vehicles damaged, 2 injured

Mangaluru, Oct 14, 2015: A bus and a tempo were damaged and two persons sustained injuries in a clash that erupted between two groups at Mundana in  Kadri on October 14, Wednesday reportedly over a land dispute.

 

 

The two sides, one belonging to PV Mohan and Somayaji Bhat and another  of Angelina T Rego have been claiming that the land  belonged to them.  The MCC health Department had earlier instructed the land owner to remove the tyres stocked at the  land as it would lead to water stagnation and breeding of mosquitoes.

It is said on October 14, Wednesday, MCC Health Officers had arrived at the  spot and found that the tyres were not removed as per the instructions. However, soon people belonging to both the sides arrived and the arguments and counter arguments led to a clash resulting in stone pelting.
The Kadri police had to rush to the spot to disperse the crowd and MCC officers had to return without taking any action.

Meanwhile, both parties have lodged a complaint and counter complaint. If PV Mohan and Somayaji Bhat  in their complaint stated that the land was owned by them and the Angelina family which had a tyre business had illegally stocked tyres there, Angelina in her counter complaint claimed that the land belonged to her family. She also accused Mohan and Somayaji Bhat of  transgressing into her family property, assaulting them and damaging the vehicles belonging to the family.

Kadri police are investigating the case.
