Mangaluru, Apr 18, 2017: A Mangaluru Chalo Programme aimed at securing "Justice for Qureshi" who has been allegedly subject to police brutality, will be organised by the United Muslim Front at Nehru Maidan on April 28, Friday at 3 pm.
Informing this to reporters here on April 18, Tuesday, K Ashraf, Convenor of the Front and former mayor said Qureshi was arrested by the CCB cops from the court compound on the pretext of questioning him and was then kept in illegal detention. He was tortured during the period, alleged Ashraf and added that this had resulted in 60 per cent kidney failure.
On this occasion, Ashraf also expressed his regret over the apathy shown by political parties and other organisations with regard to this case. He further assured that the protest programme seeking justice for Qureshi would be a peaceful one.
