Mangaluru, Nov 19, 2016: Indira Gandhi Janma Shatabdi Bhavan, the newly built District Congress Office at Mallikatta was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on November 19, Saturday. The building has come up in commemoration of the birth centenary of the late prime minister.
State Home Minister and KPCC Chief G Parameshwar, KPCC Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao, U T Khader, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, former minister K H Muniyappa, KPCC Vice-President B L Shanker, MLAs J R Lobo, Mohiuddin Bava and Abhaychandra Jain, MLC Ivan D’Souza and other Congress leaders were present.
Later addressing a press meet, Home Minister Parameshwar hailed the efforts put in by DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai to ensure that the new building came up within 11 months. He also hoped that the new office would contribute towards strengthening the party in the district.
He further exuded confidence that the Congress would win more seats in the coming assembly elections. He also revealed on the occasion that Congress had independent offices in 13 districts. He further informed that the other district units have been asked to take initiative to construct new offices.
