Mangaluru, Jan 07, 2016: The CCB Police have succeeded in apprehending eight persons said to be associates of underworld don Vicky Shetty alias Balakrishna Shetty. If six persons were arrested in Marakada, the remaining two were arrested near KSRTC bus stand at Bejai.
Informing this to reporters at his office on January 7, Thursday, City Police Commissioner Chandra Shekhar said the six Vicky Shetty aides arrested first were hatching plans to carry out a dacoity at Gundu Rao lane at Marakada. They were arrested by CCB police led by Inspector Valentine D’Souza while they were in a White coloured Ritz and Maruti Swift car in front of an orphanage in the area, the Commissioner informed.
Those arrested are Jayesh alias Sachchu(23) of Bondel, Sujith alias Gauri (26) of Bajal, Naveen Shetty alias Pili Naveen (34) of Akash Bhavan, Praveen Kumar alias K P Praveen (26) of Golthamajal, Bantwal, Harshith (22) of Kulshekar and Guruprasad (30) of Kankanady. As many as four swords, six mobile phones and two cars have been seized from them.
It is learnt they were wanted in the Vicky alias Vikram Bolur murder case reported last year and the Prashanth alias Pachchu murder case reported in 2013.
In another case, the CCB cops, acting on a tip off that some persons were planning a crime near the Keerthi Mahal Lodge near KSRTC bus stand and were possessing arms, raided the place and arrested Sachin Gowda (31) from Puttur and Pawan Shetty(21) of Shaktinagar. Of the two, Sachin resided at Bejai. The arrests were made on January 7. A pistol, five live bullets and two mobile phones were seized from them.
Sachin was said to be an accused in the case of murder of one Rajesh in Urva in 2004 while Pawan was said to be an accused in the Durga Prasad Shetty murder case of 2014.
A good catch by the CCB under the guidance of Inspector Valentine. The culprits held in the cases must be hanged instead providing them free accommodation and food in the jail.
Thanks to CCB for arresting the accused in many criminal cases . We request the commissioner to be strict in the patrolling and make the city crime free.
