Speaking on the occasion, Sudhir Shetty, Opposition leader in MCC said the suspension of the Town Hall renovation works  since ten months  has hit hard many who otherwise find it most convenient to organise  cultural programmes there. The petty politics resorted to by the Congress has converted Town Hall into a virtual dump yard, he alleged.

Shetty also lashed out at the Congress administration   for frequent transfer of Commissioners in Mangaluru. The city has seen  the transfer of as many as four Commissioners in  a span of just  15 months, he said   and blamed internal politics of the Congress for the transfer of Hephsiba.

Krishna J Palemar, former minister who also spoke  alleged that development has come to a standstill in Mangaluru and warned of a severe protest if things were not set right.

Former MLC Monappa Bhandary  criticized  Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred for  not convening a meeting to discuss measures to combat monsoon eventualities.

Party leaders also forwarded a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner on the occasion.
