Mangaluru, April 28, 2015: DK DC Adoor B Ibrahim, has directed Deputy Director of Public Instruction Walter D’Mello to insure that all Block Education Officers to publish 13-point information including number of seats, fees structure, reservation, admission dates, using flex at all aided and unaided school premises, by May 8.
At the Education Authority meeting at the DC office here on April 27, Monday, the education activists including Shikshana Rakshana Vedike President Lolaksha came down heavily against the department officials and stated that they are flouting the government rules. The flexes have not been installed in any school premises. Though many schools reject seats, parents are not aware of rights.
Schools are ignoring the reservation and fees structure as well. They have not uploaded the information even in the department website till date, he said. The officials explained that they couldn’t implement regulations due to non-availability of staff. Owing to SSLC examination, school visit was not done and shortage of manpower is acute. DYFI District President Muneer Kaatipalla said that the attitude shows lack of official responsibility. People struggle pay donation for unaided schools in rural areas, and asked will they get their money back?
SFI leader Nithin Kuthar said donation menace has increased in the district. Schools are run by religious institutions, people fail to raise their voice against donation menace. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi English Medium Schools Association President Mohammed Beary said that they can fix Rs 30,000 of fees per student as per the order of the Apex Court.
The DDPI intervened said that the order has received over 7,000 objections and it is not finalised. The DDPI also suggested the public to complain with Fees Controlling Authority President and DC A B Ibrahim in case of wrong demand of fees. The DC hailed the contribution of private education institution to the district and wanted their cooperation in implementation of government order.
