Mangalore, June 1: Addressing reporters on the occasion of the successful completion of the BJP’s three years in power, District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar claimed that citizens will not be able to see any sewage water in the city after six months.





Stating that the Pollution Control Board has done a lot of good work in cleaning the city up, he added that the MCC has already started collecting waste from door to door in some of its wards.

Definitely stating that there is no illegal sand mining in DK, Palemar said that strict action will be taken against those who use machinery to extract sand from the river bed. Terming DC Subodh Yadav’s transfer as a ‘routine transfer,’ he said that it had nothing to do with illegal sand mining. He said that DC N. S. Channappa Gowda has successfully banned plastic in Kodagu and will repeat the same in Mangalore.

He also said that there is no question of stopping Civic Tiger from roaming the streets and driving away street vendors.

MLA N. Yogish Bhat said that the Mangalore Airport will soon be given the status of international airport with the runway extended to safe proportions. He said that it can be done with sufficient pressure exerted on people’s representatives and friends from West Asia.

He also expressed apprehension that Mangalore Airport will find it difficult to get international airport status if Kannur Airport gets it first.

Speaking about the evil effects of Endosulphan, he said that efforts will be made to identify and assist the victims of Endosulphan.

He also spoke on the need to effectively utilize excess water from the district’s 13 rivers.
