Mangalore, May 28, 2012 : Prof. T. C. Shivashankar Murthy, vice-chancellor of Mangalore University, said that undergraduate and postgraduate students of Mangalore University can log on to its official website http://www.mangaloreuniversity.ac.in to apply for examinations. Since the university is already issuing computerized hall tickets, convocation certificates, and marks cards to students, the facility to apply online for exams will complete the computerization of the entire exam process, he said.

shiva 1Since the university no longer uses manual ledger books and employs software to tabulate marks instead, exam results could be declared earlier this year, he said.

P. S. Yadapadithaya, registrar (evaluation) of Mangalore University, said that colleges will be requested to upload internal assessment marks to the university’s website from 2012 – 13. Each principal will receive a password, which he/she can use to upload internal assessment marks. Principals can change this password later. Students will not be able to view their internal assessment marks online. This will eliminate the time-consuming task of sending internal assessment marks annually, he said.

K. Chinnappa Gowda, registrar (administration) of Mangalore University, said that colleges affiliated to the Mangalore University are open to launching online admission procedures on a pilot basis from 2012 – 13.

The university will use common software for online admission and will install it, making it easier for colleges to make admissions online. This will also enable colleges to send admission statements to the university easily and on time for its approval.

He also said that the software has been designed to accept admissions only if colleges have satisfied all the requirements. If this procedure turns out to be a success, all the colleges will adopt it, he said.
