Mangalore, April 25, 2014: The Mangalore International Airport has registered an impressive performance for the year 2013-14. It has recorded a 21.71 per cent growth rate in passenger traffic and has handled a total of 12.50 lakh passengers during the period which is an all time high.
According o Airport Director JT Radhakrishna, as in the previous year, the number of domestic passengers was more than the number of international passengers. The number of domestic passengers during the period stood at 8, 41,258, while 4,13,842 international passenger travelled through the airport during the period.
Radhakrishna also informed that the gross revenue was up by 26 per cent and stood at Rs. 63.89 crore during the year 2013-14.
He also stated that a 54 per cent growth in international traffic was possible owing to the direct flight to Dubai by Jet Airways and the Dammam flight by Air India Express.
He opined that the withdrawal of the Kochi-Mangalore-Kuwait flight which was operating twice a week will have no bearing on the international traffic.
