Mangalore: A news channel reporter gets threat for telecasting news on Nalin Kumar

Mangalore, April 16: Journalists in Mangalore submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, seeking action against the culprits who had threatened a reporter of a Kannada news channel on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

The alleged threat came after the channel flashed a news regarding Nalin Kumar Kateel’s alleged phone calls to a woman. The BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel has not reacted in this matter. Threat is alleged to have come from anonymous persons.

 

 

 

 

Independent candidate Sudatt Jain released press note on Tuesday April 15 to the media alleging that Nalin Kumar had made 3,742 phone calls to a woman between August 1, 2011 and July 2012, and between November 2012 and October 2013. Jain claimed that these call details were recorded and  a CD has been shown as proof. Jain informed the press that he has submitted an appeal in this regard to the district election officers and the police department to probe into these phone calls.

Suvarna News channel, a few print and electronic media have carried the news on the same day. After the channel telecasted the news, the channel reporter Sukesh Kumar started getting threats on phone and social media like Facebook and WhatsApp.

 Sukesh Kumar has filed a written complaint with the police. The journalists in the city met the DC and urged him to take action in the matter and also provide adequate security to Sukesh Kumar. A copy of the memorandum was also submitted to the DCP.
