Mangaluru, Apr 30, 2015: Karnataka Amateur Athletics Association President Dr G Parameshwar has informed that all arrangements are complete for the 19th Federation Cup National Athletics Championships 2015 which will be inaugurated at Mangala Stadium  in the city today (April 30) at 6.15 pm.

Speaking to reporters on April 30, Thursday morning, Parameshwar said already 675 out of the total 876 athletes who have registered their names for the event have reached the city, while the rest too would be here soon. Parameshwar also informed that a colourful cultural procession would be taken out prior to the inaugural.

He further stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who was scheduled to inaugurate the event will however not be able to attend  as he is expected to attend an important meeting with the Prime Minister in New Delhi.  He said another senior leader will inaugurate the event in place of the Chief Minister.

Parameshwar also stated that Karnataka’s ace high jumper Sahana kumara will lead the Karnataka contingent and administer the oath to the participant athletes.
To a question if the transport strike would affect the inaugural, Parameshwar said  he has already requested all oganisations to take part in the event and schools too have been requested to send students to witness the inaugural.

Parameshwar even informed that a Sports injury Centre  too is  functional at the stadium and has four doctors and nurses to attend to the athletes in case of any injury.

Manjunath Bhandary, President of Dakshina Kannada Athletic Association, Tejomaya, former president of the Association, Sadananda Shetty, Chairman of Shree Devi Institutions and others were present at the press meet.
