Mandd Sobhann to launch Global Konkani Organization on Aug 20

Mangalore, Aug 11: Mandd Sobhann will launch the Global Konkani Organization and celebrate World Konkani Day on Aug 20 Saturday. 

Speaking to reporters at a press conference held at Press Club today, Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario said that the purpose of the event is to unite Konkani-speaking people belonging to different castes, dialects, regions, scripts, and others, scattered in different parts of the globe.

Mr. Ozario also said that the Jagotik Konkani Sanghatton (Global Konkani Organization) will be formed by the union of Konkani cultural, social, and literary organizations worldwide. Delegates representing more than 100 Konkani organizations worldwide will attend the general assembly on Aug 20—the same day on which St. Aloysius College will celebrate World Konkani Day in its IT Block, he added. 

Dr. K. A. Ashok Pai, the internationally acclaimed psychiatrist, writer, and film maker will formally launch the Global Konkani Organization. 

A cultural programme comprising contemporary dance presentations, brass bands, skits, folk dances, and others will form part of the event. 

President Louis J. Pinto, Coordinator Stany Alvares, PRO Arun Raj Rodrigues, and Secretary Rony Crasta were also present at the press conference.
