Puttur, June 12, 2016 : A man from Kadaba who was having bath in the Netravathi river at Uppinangady was attacked by a duo and robbed of his cell phone and cash.
The incident took place during the early hours of June 11, Saturday when Vishwanath Poojary who had returned from a pilgrimage to Tirupathi was on his return journey and had decided to have a dip in the river as the bus to his home town was yet to arrive.
Taking advantage of the darkness around, the two strangers had pounced on him. When Poojary raised an alarm, locals managed to trap one of them identified as Abhijith from Panemangalore.
The other person managed to escape. The trapped youngster had five cell phones with him.
He was later handed over to the police.
