Mamatha Poojary, Poovamma, Sandhya Pai, Jaya Suvarna chosen for Rajyotsava Awards

Bangalore, Oct 31, 2014: As the State Government announced the list of 59 Rajyotsava Awardees of this year on October 30, Thursday, there was much to cheer for the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

 Among the achievers from the districts who are selected for the Award are Kabaddi star Mamatha Poojary, talented athlete Poovamma who lives in Mangalore but is of Kodagu origin,  Sandhya S Pai( media), Jaya C Suvarna of Bharath Co-operative Bank, Sampaje Sheenappa Rai and Narayana Ganiga(Yakshagana and Bayalata).

Other achievers  who have been chosen for the Award include ISRO retired scientist Dr Kasturi Rangan, eminent singer S Janaki and Justice Venkatachalaiah.

The jury  included  eminent writers Channaveera Kanavi, Dr Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Marulasiddappa and H G Siddaramaiah.

The Award presentation ceremony will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra at Bangalore on the evening of November 1, Kannada Rajyotsava Day.
