Udupi, March 02, 2015: Malpe Sambhrama, beach fest jointly organised by the Dakshina Kannada and the Udupi Districts Fish Marketing Federation to mark its diamond jubilee on the Malpe Beach, witnessed huge attraction March 1.
A wide variety of Kites filled the skies at the kite exhibition held by the famous ‘Team Mangalore.’ In the shape of the bat, a Yakshagana artiste and so on. A kites had the message of global warming on it.
According to Sarvesh Rao, leader of Team Mangalore, his team was flying 25 kites here. All the kites were made of rip stop nylon fabric (used for boat sails) and all the kite designs were made painstakingly, he added. Parents along with children came to him asking for kites and were sent to a nearby kite selling stall.
Many people visited the stalls, where sea-food and a range of food was available. The sand sculpture carving competition on the beach had many teams participating in it. The topic given to them was ’lighthouse’ . They displayed good skills and a good variety.
The dog show was a big attraction with many different breeds of dogs participating. One event, which attracted large number of people, was the motorcycle stunts. Kannada actor Darshan visited the festival and regaled his fans with some of his dialogues. Generally it was all soaked up by a good number of visitors from far and wide.
