Udupi, Mar 19, 2017:Udupi district In-Charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj on March 18, Saturday, speaking after inaugurating the Malpe-Padukere bridge built at a cost of Rs 16.91 crore, said that the Padukere Beach would be transformed into a beautiful beach to enhance tourism-related activities in the region. The bridge adjoining Malpe-Padukere would open up a plenty of tourism opportunities generating income to the locals.
The beach would be included into the jurisdiction of Malpe Development Committee, which would start development activities in the region. Three Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) buses would be pressed into service, he added.
Madhwaraj said that Rs 157 crore is allotted as the subsidy amount for the diesel and the feasibility certificates would be provided to all who apply.
He added that fishermen who do not have feasibility certificates and bank accounts would also receive diesel subsidy from April 1 as Rs 337 crore has been announced for fisheries department in the budget.
Madhwaraj said Rs 77.50 crore has been allotted during his tenure to construct bridges and Rs 320 crore is released for taking up UGD and KUDSEMP project in Malpe region.
The minister said that Rs 4.60 crore has been released for the construction of a hi-tech bus stand in Malpe.
