Make Ullal a model CMC - Minister UTK

Ullal, Mar 13, 2015:  Speaking after distributing free LPG connections to the beneficiaries at Ullal City Municipal Council office on March 11,  Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader said,  development of  Ullal will be a reality soon if citizens co-operated towards maintaining peace in and around Ullal.

 With distribution of free LPG kits, Ullal has become the first kerosene free CMC in the nation. This has added to the good reputation of UIlal, he said and told people to utilise the facility to prepare healthy food. The CMC has taken initiative towards providing identity cards to street vendors, he said.

Khader, requested the cooperation of people towards the overall development of Ullal and to make it a model CMC in the state. Development will be possible only if the people maintain peace and order, he said. He recalled that his father, legislator U T Farid faced lot of criticisms during the establishment of Mangalore University in Konaje. But, in a due course of time, several medical and engineering colleges were started in Ullal, enhancing the progress of the region, he said.

Fisher folk of Ullal have been facing problems in anchoring boats and this has adversely affected their livelihood. As per the memorandum submitted by them, a plan has been drafted towards the construction of jetty in Kotepur.

Minister Khader assured of constructing a small jetty initially at a cost of Rs 4 core and later widening it based on need . This will help in Ullal becoming a fish selling market eventually and would help in the development.
