Madikeri, Sep 12, 2016 : A case of assault on cattle transporters by men suspected to be belonging to the Sangh Parivar has been reported from Kaggodlu here on September 11, Sunday.
The incident took place when a person named Basheer was transporting two cows owned by Ganapathi of Kaggodlu in his pick-up vehicle. The so called cattle protectors intercepted the vehicle and assaulted both Basheer and the driver Salam. It has been gathered that the attackers even fired in the air and damaged the vehicle windshield.
The owner of the cow has in a complaint with the police alleged that his cows were stolen, while the SDPI has claimed that the cattle were being taken for farming purposes.
The injured Basheer and Salam have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. Madikeri rural police are investigating the case.
