MPL Tourney – Day 1: United Ullal, President Sixers teams register impressive wins

Mangaluru, Dec19, 2016 :  United  Ullal Team registered a six wicket win  over Udupi Tigers   in the first match of the  Alzumain White Stone Mangaluru Premier League cricket tournament which has commenced at the  B R Ambedkar Stadium  of New Mangalore on December 18, Sunday.

Udupi Tigers who won the toss and elected to bat first scored 139 runs for the loss of  9 wickets in the 20 overs with the help of 39 runs by Asif and 28 from Naga.  United Ullal’s  Mitrakanth  Yadav   picked four wickets for 21 runs.

In reply, United Ullal  reached the target in 18.1 overs. Captain Nitin Mulki scored an unbeaten 78,  while Mitrakanth Yadav   was also unbeaten  with 53 runs. Opening batsman Sadiq Kirmani scored a brisk 18 runs.

Nitin Mulki and Mitrakanth Yadav  jointly  bagged the Man of the Match Award.

In the second match of the day, President Sixers team defeated Spark Avengers Bolara  by 3 wickets.  Spark  Avengers scored 150 runs   by losing 8 wickets in the 20 overs. Batsmen Ifran, Sachin, Harshith and  Ibrahim scored 28, 33, 23 and 13 runs respectively.   For Kundapur team Karyappa  got 4 wickets for 22 runs while  Akhil picked 2 wickets for 18 runs.

 The Kundapur team put up a good fight   with  some great batting show by Mashuq and Nehal and registered  a three wicket win in the 18th over. For Spark team  Pawan secured 2 wickets for 15 runs. Mashuq was declared the Man of the Match.
