Mangaluru, Nov 15, 2017: The long awaited inaugural of the Railway underpass constructed near Padil-Kodakkal on the National Highway 75 was inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on November 15, Wednesday. The underpass has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 16.50 crores.
Speaking on the occasion, Nalin Kumar said the developmental works in the district get hindered many a time due to monsoons. He also informed that the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has issued instructions to complete the Pumpwell to Thokkottu stretch by March next year. The maintenance works of the stretch from BC Road to Suratkal would get Rs 10 crores, he informed.
Corporators Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Roopa Bangera, Railway Advisory Committee Member Ahmed Bava, Contractor Arun, NH Authority Engineer Ajith and others were present.
The new Railway Underpass is expected to reduce traffic problems which have been very frequent in the area.
