Mangaluru, May 6, 2016 : MLC Ivan D’Souza met State Rural Development Minister H K Patel in Bengaluru and urged him to constitute an expert committee to study the drinking water problem as well as the crop loss due to water scarcity in five taluks of DK District. He also requested the minister to find a permanent solution to the problem based on the report.
The MLC also submitted a memorandum to the minister and apprised him of the grave drinking water problem facing the district and added that agricultural sector has also been gravely affected due to the problem. Open wells are drying up due to the presence of large borewells, he said and added that even arecanut plantations have been affected for want of water.
Ivan has informed that the minister has already directed the Deputy Commissioner to submit a report on the drinking water problem in the district.

This had to happen because the trees are cut down in vast for the construction purposes. The permission is given for the construction of many buildings. |
