Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2019: The former MLA of Mangaluru South J R Lobo and the present MLA of the constituency Vedavyas Kamath have locked horns over the housing project for the homeless at Shaktinagar.
Lobo who spoke to reporters here on February 27, Wednesday has demanded the resignation of Kamath for making false allegations regarding the project. He deplored the frequent criticisms leveled against him by MLA Kamath regarding the project on the grounds that it has not been executed satisfactorily.
Lobo claimed that he was striving hard to implement the project for which a 9 acre land has been identified at Shaktinagar and Rs 61.50 crore has been sanctioned. Though necessary permissions including the one from the Forest Department have been obtained, MLA Kamath was trying to secure a stay to the Forest Departent permission, alleged Lobo.
He also stated that the MLA should resign if he cannot complete the project."The MLA has not secured funds for any project during his tenure so far but was only inaugurating projects sanctioned during my tenure", alleged Lobo.
Mayor Bhasker K, Congress leader Kallige Taranath Shetty and others were present.
