Mangalore, Feb 6:  The youth wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Dakshina Kannada, organized a programme against hunger, “Towards a Hunger Free Society” at Town Hall on Feb 6, Saturday. MLA U T Khader distributed ration cards to the beneficiaries. 


District-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar inaugurated the event and lauded the efforts of the organization in working toward a hunger-free society. He also urged the government to work for the development of the Muslim community.

The minister praised the Muslim community for its services to society. He advised parents of school-going children not to present mobile phones to their kids as they could have an adverse effect on their health. 


Mohammed Kunni, the district convener of the youth wing of Jamat-e-Islami-Hind welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory speech.
Somanath Nayak, the president of Nagarika Seva Trust, Guruvayanakere; B M Mumtaz Ali, the president of Badriya Jumma Masjid; and Abduravoof Putthige, the director of Talent Research Foundation; and Ramanath Rai, MLA of Bantwal, were the chief guests of the programme. MLA Ramanath Rai appreciated the drive to distribute ration cards to the poor. Stressing the need for positive changes in society, he said that programmes such as these help in the growth and development of the society. 


Abdulla Javed, the state president of Jamaath-e-Islami-Hind, Karnataka- Goa, presided over the programme. Mohammed Mubin, the general secretary of the youth wing of Jamaath-e-Islami-Hind, proposed vote of thanks.
