MCC to organize campaign for clean Mangalore on March 27

Mangalore, Mar 25: The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and the district administration have collaborated with a number of government and private departments and unions to organize a campaign called “Shramadana” on March 27, Sunday at 7:00 a.m. in a bid to reach the goal of a clean and green city.

 

 

 

Mayor Praveen told reporters at a press conference held on March 25, Friday that the event will be held at 9 venues and requested all the citizens to participate in the campaign.

He said that the MCC has appointed nine nodal officials for each of these 9 venues and that anybody interested can contact these nodal officials for more information. The chief sponsor of this campaign is Dix Engineering Projects Services Pvt. Ltd.

MCC Commissioner Vijaya Prakash said that the NSS, NCC, Lions Club, various NGOs, government officials, Rotary Club, self-help groups, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Campus Front of India (CFI), students’ unions, home guards, and others will participate in this campaign.

Regarding the plastic bag menace within the city, he said that those found using plastic bags below 20 microns will be fined Rs. 150.  Geetha Nayak, the deputy mayor, was also present.
