Revealing further details, he said that 15 main roads have been concretized and other development projects including repair/renovation of parks and roads under the theme “Own Your Road/Park” have been launched.

The civic body has achieved the third position in the state for development, owing to which it is working hard to provide better roads, parks, and other civic services to the public. He also said that the MCC will scrutinize and appoint resource persons and workers to complete the project within the deadline.

MCC Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash has urged public organizations, nationalized banks, and entrepreneurs to cooperate with the civic body and participate in the projects based on the theme “Own Your Park/Road,” which have been launched to develop and protect public property such as parks and roads. The civic body has identified 22 main roads and 5 parks for this project, he added. Interested entrepreneurs, public organizations, and nationalized banks can contact MCC at 0824-2220215.

Mayor Praveen also said that MCC will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with interested organizations to repair, restore, and beautiful city parks and roads. Besides, cat eyes, rubber synthetic humps, and zebra crossing will also be implemented. Rs. 2.92 lakh per acre will be spent on each park and its maintenance. Of the total amount of Rs. 28.58 crore, Rs. 16 crore has already been collected as on Feb 28, 2011, he said.

Parks identified for development are Mahatma Gandhi Park at Mannagudda, the children’s park near Hamilton circle, Mallikatte Park near Mallikatte Junction, Bharath Maidan Park near Jeppu Marker, and S. L. Mathaias Park near Melina Mogeru in Attavar, he said.

R. Shantha, the standing committee member, and Geetha Nayak, the deputy mayor, were also present.
