He said that the civic body conducted the raid because it was continuously receiving complaints from the general public that their vehicles just cannot move on the roads on Sundays because they are occupied by vendors. Even those who have been allotted space inside the markets run their business on the roads.

Stating that raids have been conducted in Suratkal too, he said that MCC officers are targeting only those who are running their business without a proper trade license. He said that some merchants have been running their business illegally for over 5 years.

Clarifying that the MCC does not intend to target poor traders, Mr. Rao said that the MCC has already raided shops in Saibeen Complex, Bharath Mall, and City Centre. He said that the civic body only wants traders to get the proper license before running their business.
