Mangaluru, Aug 15, 2016: ’MbC’, Mangalore Bicycle Club in association with Firefox Bikes is organizing the Firefox Freedom Race 2016 on September 11. This is a unique initiative on part of the club that is being organised for the first time in this coastal city, thereby opening a window of opportunities to passionate cyclists to participate in a race of 25kms stretch where the evaluation criterion is speed, says Ganesh Nayak, general secretary of MbC.
Noting that the September event is the first cycling race in this coastal city, Ganesh said it is the plan of MbC to continue this in the coming years too. Cyclists from Mangaluru, Udupi-Manipal and Madikeri will be invited for participation in this event. Hi-end bikes of any kind and type are allowed in this race. The route of the race is Kuloor Junction, Kuloor Kavoor Road, KPT, NH 66 and Kuloor Junction. Registration for the race will open on Independence Day.
Ganesh said registration can be done on the club’s website http://mangalorebicycleclub.com/ and at its registered office - Mangalore Bicycle Club, Prakash Offset Printers, Navbharat Circle K S Rao Road. The race will start at 6am and the winner will receive cash prize of Rs 10,000 and one year gym membership worth Rs 20,000; runner up Rs 5,000 and six months gym membership worth Rs 12,000 and third placed winner Rs 2000 and gym membership of three months.
Club will also hold a 10 km freedom rally which is open for all Mangalurean cyclist to participate and win three lucky draws. This freedom rally mainly to encourage children and adults to take out their bicycles and pedal to a better and healthier on Independence Day. The rally route is Kuloor Junction - Kuloor Kavoor road and back to Kuloor Junction. The 10-km ride will get underway at 7am and three lucky winners will get Rs 1,000 each. Registration fee is Rs 50.
