Lokayukta police arrest tax officers for accepting bribe

Mangalore, Aug 12, 2011 : The Lokayukta police in Mangalore caught Dhiranna Naik, the assistant commercial tax officer, and Narasimha Rao, the accountant, red handed while accepting bribe at the house of Mr. Naik in Karangalpady. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The tax officials had victimized Mohammed, who decided to complain to the Lokayukta.

Mohammed had approached Mr. Naik to get the H-form, which provides for exemption of sales tax on commodity export; but Mr. Rao and Mr. Naik had demanded Rs. 3 lakh. Mohammed negotiated with them and brought down the amount to Rs. 1.5 lakh.

The Lokayukta team then laid a trap and caught the two red-handed. Mr. Naik, who was terrified out of his wits when he saw the Lokayukta officials, tossed a bundle of currency notes over the roof of his house.

However, the Lokayukta team, under the leadership of DYSP Girijesh and SP Jagamayyanawar, seized all the Rs. 1.5 given as bribe amount.
