Mangaluru, June 23, 2018: Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty paid a surprise visit to the District Wenlock and Laadygoschen Hospitals on June 22, Friday and enquired about the various problems facing the two hospitals.
The Lokayukta visited the different departments of Wenlock and spoke to the patients and visitors. Later, he visited Ladygoschen Hospital and inspected the conditions there.
The Lokayukta instructed officials to ensure that patients are not inconvenienced in any way and also asked them to give attention to the works that need to be done.
While appreciating the services of the hospital staff, he expressed disappointment over some problems. He stressed the need to upgrade Wenlock on the lines of Kidwai and Jayadeva Hospitals in Bengaluru.
The medical officers drew the attention of the Lokayukta that though the two hospitals face no staff shortage, they definitely faced shortage of non-medical staff. Even the grants are not enough, they stated.
District Health Officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao, District Medical Officer Dr Rajeshwari Devi and others were present.
