Mangaluru, Jan 4, 2015: The works of towering personalities like Kanakadasa which speaks about their invaluable life experiences as well as life values can be a panacea to all out pains, said noted writer and lyricist Jayanth Kaikini.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Kanaka Keerthana Gayana programme organised by the Kanakadasa Research Centre of Mangalore University on January 3, Saturday. An artiste needs to get himself absorbed while performing or presenting his art form, he said adding they should also incorporate fresh thoughts.
Referring to the brutal killing of children in a Pakistan army school recently, Kaikini felt had the extremists read good literature and enjoyed art forms like music they would not have resorted to such an act.
Prof. P.S. Yedapadittaya, Registrar of Mangalore University presided over the function. Meena S Kajampady, in-charge Principal of University College, Prof. B Shivaram Shetty, Convenor of Kanakadasa Research Centre and others were present.
