Mangalore, August 1: State Minister of Higher Education Aravind Limbavali said that the revised UGC pay scales for college lecturers will be implemented soon. He was speaking at the Conference of Higher Education and Annual General Body Meeting organized by the Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) at Roshni Nilaya on Aug 1, Sunday. He also said that college teachers will be promoted as per UGC regulations in future.

Mr. Limbavali urged college lectures to give him an opportunity to implement revised UGC pay scales and added that several discussions have taken place with concerned authorities regarding the demands of lecturers. He advised the lecturers to communicate their demands through the association instead of neglecting their duties and going to the Vidhana Soudha. He also said that he is urging the union government to pay the college lecturers of Karnataka salaries due for 51 months from Jan 1, 2006 to March 31, 2010, which will exceed a sum of Rs. 600 crore. He urged the managements of private colleges to pay their lecturers on time even if they are in financial difficulties.
