Mangalore, April 1: The commuters, who are using bus services as a mode of travel between Mangalore and Kasargod, will travel in an air conditioned bus soon as the State Transport Authority has issued license to start the air conditioned Volvo bus service between Mangalore and Kasargod.

P B Karumbayya, senior officer in Karnataka State Road Transport, revealed here that license to run Volvo bus service between Mangalore and Kasargod is already issued by the state Transport Authority. They will finalize the date for launch of new Volvo bus service within two days, he added. The license issued soon after the launching of Volvo bus services between Mangalore and Manipal.


Puttur-State Bank Volvo Bus Services


The Karnataka State Road transport, which flagged off Volvo service between Mangalore and Manipal recently, is determining to start air conditioned Volvo bus service between Mangalore and Puttur. As an experimental ride, the bus will run only in morning and evening.


The total distance between Puttur and State Bank, Mangalore is 50 km. According to the transport authority; it should receive an income of Rs 40 for a kilometer. Where as company spends Rs 32 for a kilometer.


Now the transport authority has decided to collect Rs 45 from a commuter, who travels between Mangalore and Puttur.
